SOCI2055 Sociology in Everyday Life (1 unit)
Sociology examines different aspects of everyday life (e.g. work, family, education, communities, and social movement) from various angles and critical perspectives. This course seeks to help students learn how to analyze issues that they encounter on the day-to-day basis through the sociological lens. Students will be introduced to various sociological approaches to explaining the issues and challenges in their daily life. In addition to learning in the classroom, students will acquire on-the-ground knowledge through social investigations in the daily life setting. In doing so, we expect students to sharpen their sociological imagination and to appreciate the relevance of sociology for understanding everyday life.
